Metter High School's Science Olympiad Team shines at the Georgia State Science Olympiad Competition! At this year's competition, Piper Dustin and Miracle Byrd excelled in the Bungee Drop event, earning a well-deserved 3rd place medal. This event challenges students to design a bungee cord that can safely drop a weight from a certain height, testing their understanding of physics and engineering principles. Additionally, Kelly Monjaraz-Caballero and Emily Ortiz-Luna achieved 7th place in the Air Trajectory event, which involves launching a projectile to hit a target. Jay Ulmer and Giovanni Hernandez also secured 5th place in the Electric Vehicle event, where they designed and built a battery-powered car. Nathaniel O’Conner and John Pasaye also placed 7th in Pokemon Medley, which showcased their knowledge of gaming strategies. The Board of Education honored our Math Mania and RESA Georgia Young Authors winenrs at their monthly meeting last Thursday evening! The winners were formally announced at the schools, but Board members love to have them recognized in their public meetings. Although not all winners could attend, each principal proudly read out every student's name, showcasing the incredible talent we have in Candler County! We're so proud of our students!

Huge Congratulations to Mr. David Sasser and the Metter High School Symphonic Band! Last night, Mr. Sasser was surprised with a special recognition at the monthly Board of Education meeting. This honor was in celebration of the band's outstanding performance at the Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) at Georgia Southern on March 7. The band earned Superior ratings - all A's - across all judging sheets! One judge was so impressed that he sent a letter to the administration, stating: "I've been judging bands for over 30 years, and your band's performance was one of the finest I've ever heard!" The administration presented Mr. Sasser with a framed version of the letter. We're beyond proud of Mr. Sasser, our assistant band leaders, and the entire band for their incredible talent, hard work, and outstanding representation of our school and community!

Metter High School FBLA has once again made school history! At the FBLA State Conference held last weekend in Atlanta, our local FBLA chapter once again captured the prestigious Chapter of the Year trophy..........making them FIVE-PEAT state championship winners!!! Individuals who received awards and recognition during the state conference include: Kyeigh Souls - 5th place in the state in Introduction to Public Speaking Layla Hallett - Georgia FBLA Region 4 Officer Ollie Grace Douglas, Presley Douglas, and Layla Hallett - tied for 3rd place in the Battle of the Chapters competition Adviser Brenda Deal - recognized for completing her 3 year term on the Georgia FBLA Board of Directors Additional performance event competitors include: Elle Carter - Introduction to Business Presentation Miracle Byrd, Layla Hallett, Tyvenea Lawrence - Social Media Strategies
