If you register online, please make sure to send a copy of your child’s birth certificate to mccrd@candlerco-ga.gov or bring a copy in person.

The age control date will be September 1, 2025. Your child's age on that date will determine which age group they may participate in.

Unfortunately, Metter High School Softball Pink Out game scheduled for today (August 5) has been cancelled due to current weather conditions and forecasted weather for this evening.

🚧 Demolition Update on W. Vertia 🚧

Demolition of the old cafeteria on W. Vertia Street is nearly complete! The Candler County Board of Education approved the project during last month’s meeting.

The structure had sustained damage from Hurricane Helene, and the flooring contained asbestos—a hazardous material that was safely and properly removed by licensed professionals prior to demolition.

Once the work is finished, the existing concrete slab will remain in place to improve parking access near the Transportation Department.

The Metter High School Softball team is proud to partner with Candler County Hospital for our First Annual Cancer Awareness Game! This meaningful event aims to raise awareness and support for breast cancer services in our community. Cash admission only ($7 per person) will be donated to the cause, as well as, donation buckets will be available at the gate. All contributions will go directly to Candler County Hospital’s Breast Cancer Services, helping local women access essential mammograms and other critical care.

Come out and enjoy a great game while making a difference in the lives of women right here in Candler County. Wear pink to show your support and stand with us in the fight against cancer!

Metter Athletics Celebrates Outstanding Year of Athletic and Extracurricular Excellence Metter High School and Metter Middle School are proud to celebrate an exceptional year of athletic and extracurricular achievements across a variety of programs, highlighting the hard work, dedication, and talent of our student-athletes, coaches, and sponsors. From region championships to deep state playoff runs, the 2024–2025 school year has been one of the most successful in recent memory. Region Championships Metter High School teams brought home eight Region Championship titles, showcasing excellence across both athletic and performing arts programs. This award is based on a scoring of a school's athletic performance in all Sports. Along with team success, Metter High School also had several individual State Champions and State Runners-up in Girls Track. • Zacarea Walker– Champion in High Jump • Tyra Howard, Brylie Cowart, Emery Wiebe and Emmie Parrish– Champions in 4x8 Relay • Zion Saffore – Runner-Up in Long Jump • A’driana Parrish – Runner-Up in High Jump A Tradition of Excellence “These accomplishments reflect the commitment of our students and coaches to ‘win at everything’, both on and off the field,” said Metter High School Principal Zach Rackett. “We are incredibly proud of the dedication, sportsmanship, and Tiger pride shown throughout the year.” Metter Middle School Principal Dr. Will Thigpen says, “Middle School Athletics have thrived over the past few years, and this year is no different. Our student-athletes are driven to succeed in all that they do.” As Metter High School looks forward to the upcoming school year, the legacy of champions continues to grow. “We are thankful that the entire Candler County community joins in celebrating these achievements and the bright future ahead for Tiger athletics and activities,” says Athletic Director Vicki Bowen.

The FY2026 budget will be considered for final approval by the Board on June 19, 2025 at 5:00 p.m., Candler County Board of Education meeting room. Pursuant to O.C.G.A. §20-2-167.1, additional meetings will be held to provide an opportunity for public input on the proposed annual operating budget. One was held on May 29, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. and the next will be June 13, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. in the Candler County Board of Education meeting room.

Coach Carr has been an integral part of the program as Assistant Coach for the past two seasons, bringing experience, passion, and leadership to the team.
