Candler County School District (CCSD) is aware of the arrest made on Friday in Candler County, as well as other arrests over the weekend across Georgia and in other states, related to an alleged coordinated plan to attack a Georgia high school.
“At this time, we have not been made aware of any specific or credible threat directed toward Candler County Schools,” says Superintendent Dr. John Jordan. “However, we want to assure our families and community that we take all threats seriously and will continue to work closely with law enforcement to monitor the situation. The safety of our students and staff is, and always will be, our top priority.”
We would like to thank the Candler County Sheriff's Office and all other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies involved for their hard work in investigating these threats. Their efforts to monitor concerning online conversations, identify possible threats, and take action have played an important role in helping protect our schools and communities.
We also want to acknowledge that one of the individuals arrested is a former Candler County School District student who did not graduate from our district. According to law enforcement, this individual has been connected to the group believed to be involved in planning this threat.
CCSD encourages parents, students, staff, and community members to remain alert and report any concerning statements, social media posts, or suspicious activity to school officials or law enforcement.
We are extremely grateful to the law enforcement officers and agencies who work every day to protect our children, schools, and communities.
