The annual campaign for Candler County Public Education Foundation officially kicks off Thursday, Oct. 1, and will continue throughout the month of October.

Since the founding of the Education Foundation in 2005, more than $500,000 has been awarded in grants to fund programs that inspire creativity, spark curiosity and foster meaningful learning experiences. Funding has helped with robotics competitions, career day, SkillsUSA competitions, field trips and other unique learning opportunities.

“The Education Foundation helps provide unique experiences and opportunities for all of our students, both inside and outside of the classroom,” said Foundation Chairman Allen Lanier. “Over the past year, the Foundation has helped students participate in experiences such as Junior Youth Assembly, thespian conferences, robotics competitions, and band and ROTC programs. These are opportunities that allow our students to explore their interests, develop new skills, and represent Candler County beyond the classroom.”

Candler County Schools Superintendent Dr. John Jordan also stresses the benefits of the Foundation, saying, “The Candler County Education Foundation turns community support into opportunities for our students. It helps support academics, fine arts, robotics, FBLA, and other learning experiences and competitive opportunities at the regional, state, national, and even international level. For many students, these experiences can spark an interest or passion that helps shape their future college or career path. We are very grateful for the generosity of our community, businesses, individuals, and staff who continue to invest in our students and help make these opportunities possible.”

This year’s Campaign Goal has been set at $45,000. The staff of the Candler County School System has already achieved almost half of that goal, donating $19,778 to begin the drive and challenging the business community and families to help out.
