On Wednesday, February 28 from 6-8 pm, MHS/MCCA will host a Dual Enrollment Information Night to learn the ins and outs of Dual Enrollment. It is important to learn the pathway your child needs to take in order to be able to take Dual Enrollment classes. Reps from Southeastern Tech, Ogeechee Tech, East Ga State and Georgia Southern will be there to discuss options.​​

FBLA and Shepeard Blood Center will be hosting a blood drive on Friday, February 23rd on the Bloodmobile buses from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. in front of Metter High School. Donors should be sure to eat a nutritious breakfast and drink lots of water on the day of the blood drive. Additionally, donors should begin now eating iron rich foods in their meals to help avoid low iron which eliminates a person from donating. Students must be at least 16 years of age, meet height and weight requirements, AND have parent permission to donate blood. Morning donors will receive a free breakfast item. And all blood donors will receive snacks and a free t-shirt while supplies last. All students who donate blood will also receive a free 100 ticket to be used in a high school classroom at the teacher's discretion. Students under the age of 16 are encouraged to recruit a donor on their behalf to also earn the free 100 ticket. Additionally, students who donate OR recruit donors on their behalf three times during one school year will earn a Red Cord to wear at graduation. This is our THIRD blood drive of the year, so this is your THIRD chance to work toward earning that Red Cord for this school year!!! Our goal is to have 75 people present to be blood donors on Friday, February 23rd! Remember each blood donation saves up to three lives!

We are excited to announce that we will begin construction on the new Metter College & Career Academy very soon! As with any construction project, there are challenges. For at least the remainder of this school year and more than likely, into next year, students will continue to park in the grass area in front of the school. However, beginning MONDAY, FEBRUARY 19 the former student parking area will be blocked off to ALL traffic and there will be no through-traffic to the back of the High School. NO students will be able to park directly behind the High School. If faculty/staff wish to park near the tennis courts or the weight room during the school day, they will have to enter through the Oak Tree Entrance. Please note there is plenty of parking at the K8 complex. After 3:30 pm weekdays and on the weekends, traffic is permitted through the Bus Entrance to the athletic complexes. We understand this will be an inconvenience for some, but please understand that we are growing and the final product will be well worth it!

Middle Schoolers! Don't forget your money for Snack Shack tomorrow, Feb 16! MHS Soccer games scheduled for today (Mon, Feb 12) have been cancelled due to weather.

​MMS Parent Teacher Conferences will be held Feb 14th, 15th and 16th. All 8th grade conferences will be on the 16th and that it is vital that parents attend because you will be deciding on what school (MHS OR MCCA) your child will attend next year as a freshman. Forms for sign up were sent home with your child last week. Please return them as soon as possible, if you haven't already.​

Today, the MMS Beta Club closed out their first-ever blanket drive. Thanks to the participation of many MMS students and their families' and the communities' generous donations, this drive raised over 100 blankets for those in need!!! Huge shout out to Mrs. Stripling's Homeroom for donating the most blankets!!!

The MHS Varsity Tiger Baseball Game scheduled for today (Feb 6) has been rescheduled to tomorrow (Wed, Feb 7) due to field conditions. Game will be at 5:30 pm. Admission is $5 cash or Metter Booster Passes are accepted.

Students will not have school on February 8th, 9th, 12th and 13th for their scheduled break. Students will return on February 14th. Teachers and staff will have professional learning days on February 12th and 13th. Have a wonderful break!

Lady Tigers defeated Screven County Lady Gamecocks 51-47 tonight! This puts the Lady Tigers in 2nd place going in to the region tournament!! More details on that next week!!

The schools are still being sanitized by Ecovasive quarterly and that cleaning was completed this past Saturday. Candler County School District and the Candler County SWIRL Literacy Council is looking for sponsors for the FERST Readers -Candler program. FERST provides quality books to children ages 0-5. Books are mailed to enrolled children once a month for one year, for only $42. Candler County currently has 100 children enrolled, but many more are on the waitlist...waiting for sponsors. Metter Middle School Tigers and Lady Tigers Basketball Teams will compete in the Championship Games on Saturday, January 27 at Metter Middle School.
