kindergarten

It was recently vegetable picking day in Kindergarten! Many people probably do not even realize we have our very own garden in Kindergarten Science. This year we have grown Ga Collards, beets, cabbage, carrots, and basil. We started all of our plants in the hydroponics system in our classroom then transferred them to the raised beds we have outside. In our classroom, we have lettuce growing in the hydroponics system. We have learned so much through gardening! It takes some plants much longer to grow than others, some plants need more space than we gave them, some plants need more water and some need less. Some plants grow quickly while others grow very slow.

We were so excited to try raw carrots with ranch dressing in our classroom! Some loved the carrots, some did not! Next, we will taste collard muffins, carrot cake (requested by several students), and coleslaw. We are not sure how to prepare beets or what to do with them, but are looking for ideas!! If you have an idea, put it in the comments below!

We have already started growing the next crop in our hydroponics system and can't wait for the next harvest! If you would like to donate raised bed soil, raised beds, plants, or any other garden item it would be appreciated.
