Teacher of the Year

Metter Elementary School proudly announces Mrs. Beth Phillips as its 2026–2027 Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Phillips, a dedicated Pre-K teacher, began her career at MES as a paraprofessional while pursuing her degree in Early Childhood Education. Through hard work and determination, she earned her degree and became a classroom teacher, where she has continued to make a lasting impact on students and colleagues alike. In addition to her work in the classroom, Mrs. Phillips has mentored others who have earned — or are currently working toward earning — their own degrees in education. Mrs. Beth is married to Phillip Phillips and has two children (Zade and Zack) and one grandchild.

Mrs. Beth says "I’m just in shock! I’m so very grateful for all the love, support and guidance from all of my colleagues and administrators over the years! Winning Teacher of the Year was never a goal for me, but it sure makes all the years as a substitute, as a paraprofessional, and all the tears and late nights of homework earning my degree worth it! Thank you to all of the parents for trusting me with your children! Once I find out who is in my class each year, they become my children in my eyes! Teaching is hard, but it is truly rewarding! Thank you so much!"
