Metter Middle School is proud to announce that Mrs. Haley Todd is the MMS 2026-2027 Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Todd, a 6th grade English (ELA) teacher at Metter Middle School, is widely recognized by her peers as an educator who exemplifies excellence, leadership, and servant-hearted dedication. Now in her seventh year in education and fifth year at Metter Middle School, Haley consistently goes above and beyond for students, coworkers, and the school community.
Colleagues describe Haley as someone who “shows up every day and teaches her heart out.” She is praised for building strong relationships with students, creating an engaging classroom environment, and maintaining high expectations while ensuring students feel supported and encouraged to succeed. Her peers admire her positive attitude, calm and consistent leadership, and commitment to continually improving her craft.
Teachers also highlight Haley’s leadership of the Amazing Shake competition, noting the tremendous time, creativity, and energy she pours into making the experience meaningful for students. Through her support of the House System, PLC collaboration, and the MMS “Winning 20,” Haley consistently leads by example and puts students first.
Beyond the classroom, Haley is deeply invested in the Metter community. She and her husband, Chayton Todd, both live in Candler County and serve students at Metter Middle School. Their daughter Olivia attends Metter Elementary School. Her peers believe Haley represents the very best of Metter Middle School and is exceptionally deserving of Teacher of the Year recognition.
Haley states "I am so honored to be recognized by my peers. They all work so hard to make MMS a place where students WANT to be and inspire me daily to be better. I feel so blessed to be a part of CCSD!"
