Congratulations to Dr. Karen Chassereau on being named the MHS/MCCA Teacher of the Year! Very well deserved for this hard working teacher…evidenced by her students yelling congratulations through the hallways.

The Board of Education has announced its intention to maintain a 14.0 millage rate, as necessary for the securing of state equalization funds, which will require an increase in property taxes by 5.58 percent. All concerned citizens are invited to the first public hearing on this tax increase to be held at the Candler County Board of Education Central Office on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 6:00 pm. Times and places of additional public hearings on this tax increase are at the Candler County Schools K-8 Complex on September 19, 2023 at 8:00 am and the Candler County Board of Education Central Office on September 21, 2023 at 5:00 pm. The tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 14.000 mills, an increase of .74 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 13.260 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $150,000 is approximately $42.92 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $100,000 is approximately $29.60.

Both of these pictures will be taken by BPI Photography (the official school photographer) on Monday, July 31st. If you would like more than one pose and online proofs to view for possible future purchase, there is a sitting fee of at least $25 (depending on the session you choose). Please review the attached flyer from BPI to see all of your Senior Portrait photo session options. However, if you are taking a formal picture and a casual picture for the yearbook ONLY, there will be no choice of poses but there is also NO CHARGE. As a reminder: Guys need to bring a plain white tshirt to use for the formal tux picture. Girls need to bring a camisole tshirt to use for their formal drape picture. Again, there is no sitting fee charge for students to take a formal picture and a casual picture just for the yearbook (but there will not be a choice of poses either) and ALL Seniors must have one in the yearbook.

The Candler County School District requires parents/students to register for transportation services prior to the upcoming school year. This form allows parents to request transportation for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. Please complete the form for each student in your household. Failure to complete this form could result in delays or denial of transportation services at the beginning of the new school year. Please do not assume that just because your student was a bus rider last year that he/she is automatically a bus rider for the upcoming school year. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfgjxtkON5YyquePAbr7rH_hF_s1aFs8ei0IDmhFrlC0txsSw/viewform?pli=1
