Dr. Karen Chassereau - Science

Dr. Karen Chassereau is a science teacher and lead learner for the Metter High School science department. She is certified to teach all areas of science, grades 6-12. Dr. Chassereau is also certified in Computer Science and STEM Education. She coaches both the MHS Science Olympiad and Robotics teams and collaborates with the faculty and staff at GSU's Center for STEM Education to develop workshops and learning activities for her students and team members.

Dr. Chassereau is a Triple Eagle, receiving three degrees from Georgia Southern University! In 1999, she received a BS. Ed. in Science Education, a MS. Ed in 2004, and an Ed.D. in Curriculum Studies in 2013. Her teaching career began at Metter High School in 1999 where she taught biology and environmental science for eight years. In 2007, Dr. Chassereau joined the faculty of GSU's College of Education to teach future teachers. After eight years at GSU, she returned to Metter to teach 8th grade science before rejoining the faculty at MHS. She still serves as a host for student teachers for GSU and enjoys working with future teachers.
