The 21st Century Community Learning Center After School Program in Candler County is a grant funded program offering K-3 and 4-8th grade students the opportunity for additional academic assistance and supervised educational enrichment programs dedicated to helping children build self confidence, inspire creativity, and stay on track in school. The program is offered on school days Monday - Thursday from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. There is no cost to participate in the program, however enrollment is not guaranteed. Applications can be found at the Candler County Board of Education at 210 South College St., Metter, GA 30439.
Upon arrival each day the students are given a snack and then proceed to a classroom for 30 minutes to allow them time to complete their daily homework assignments. Additional tutoring assistance for 1 hour is offered with certified teachers from Metter Intermediate and Metter Middle Schools. The students will then participate in a 1 hour block of enrichment consisting of recreation, technology or arts. Enrichment activities are designed to offer the student a fun filled activity that will foster health awareness, creativity, team building, and individual growth. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities that may include karate, making fun snacks, scavenger hunts, learning new technologies or even creating their own business!
Parents are encouraged to participate with their child through the various parent nights scheduled throughout the school year.
